SCHOOLS FOR THE PEOPLE, NOT FOR THE ARMY

We have been informed, through the Net, that the government of Israel reward the teachers who encourage their students to join the army. For three years of obligatory service. The teachers are rewarded depending on the success of the program. In the program, there are army officers, who participate and visit schools, organizing speeches. They explain to the students the importance of the army for the existence of Israel. The Ministry of Education organizes “excursions” to the Occupied Territories of the West Bank, like Hebron, where there are Israeli settlements. This relationship between schools and army does not exist only in Israel. In England, the Minister of Education proposes schools being created by soldiers and ex-officers of the army, so that the kids obtain military morality. In the USA, soldiers wander around and inside schools, especially around poor neighborhoods. The FISE calls all the teachers in Israel, in America, in England, and all around the world to resist to the efforts of the imperialist governments and organizations to make children’s conscience familiar with their interests and the war. We call them to teach the students the values that are useful, such as love for peace, freedom, respect to the rights of the working class. To teach them that they must fight against those who perform imperialist wars, against those who want young people to be enslaved and depended on programs worked out by imperialist staff. We call the teachers’ unions, the working class unions not to underestimate the imperialists’ dispositions, who want our children to get killed, so that the multinational companies and the monopoles increase their profits. FIGHT FOR FREE PUBLIC EDUCATION IN THE SERVICE OF THE WORKING CLASS
